Parc (5) first performance……

Closure – David Woodfall / Huw Warren / Greg Byatt

First Performance (Private View) July 14th Ysgol Parc, Parc, Gwynedd 7.30pm

This is the culmination of an ACW funded project using photography, original music and video to document the rich and vibrant life of the small rural community of Parc, near Bala in the Snowdonia National Park.

The title refers to the threat that all of our communities currently face in remaining open and viable in the face of  severe economic and social pressures. The three artists have, with the wonderful and generous co-operation of the entire community; explored and documented many aspects of the community, including cultural  and social events, and the interaction and relationship with the natural enviroment.

The performance will include new music (perfromed live by Huw Warren) alongside a remarkably wide range of photographs by David Woodfall and videos and live projection by Greg Byatt which have been compiled in Parc over the last 6 months.

Despite having no pub, shop or post office, and a primary school under threat of closure; Parc possesses one of the strongest senses of community that the three artists have  ever experienced. The project as a whole is about ordinary people and their celebration of life.

Huw Warren has blogged about the various stages of the project at www.huwwarren.wordpress.com and all three artists are currently applying for additional funding to extend and develop the project over the next 6 months. There will be an exhibition open to the public and further live performances from September 2012 onwards.

Admission by invitation only, but for more information please contact Huw Warren warrenhuw@gmail.com
