BRECON JAZZ 2013 PROGRAMME ANNOUNCED

Another strong and varied programme for Brecon this year. The festival takes place August 9/10/11 and I’m very pleased to be taking a role as  Artist in Residence for another year.

The World Wide Wales series is back for a second year with 2 exciting concerts.

Jim and Maria are also presenting masterclasses at the festival (alongside Julian Siegel, Jason Rebello and Laurence Cottle)

I will also be playing a concert with Quercus (June Tabor/Iain Ballamy/Huw Warren)  in the Cathedral on the sunday evening

Other highlights include Django Bates’s Beloved Bird trio, John Surman trio, Phronesis, Zoe Rahman, Jason Rebello and the Impossible Gentlemen (with a special line up including Gwilym Simcock, Mike Walker, Steve Rodby and Mark Walker) Steve and Mark are known for their respective work with the Pat Metheny Group and Oregon, amongst others!

Wales’ younger musicians are represented by showcase gigs for the RWCMD (with Paula Gardiner) and a Junior Jazz Summerschool presentation. Welsh promoters have also been invited this year to make their own presentations in both the Guilhall and the Castle Hotel.
