Looking forward to a special solo concert next week as part of Cardiff University’s Back to Bach series.
I’ll be playing a variety of improvisations based on classical music, and pairing some Bach piano preludes with Brazilian and Bulgarian music; as well as performing some new music for the first time.
If you live in the Cardiff/South Wales area, it would be lovely to see you there; but if not, don’t worry, I’m recording the gig – so hopefully can share it with you at a later stage!
Back to Bach: Huw Warren (piano) The Art of Improvisation
21/04/2015, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Welsh pianist and composer Huw Warren has achieved an international reputation for innovative projects and collaborations over a twenty five year career. Equally at home crossing the worlds of Jazz, Classical and World music, he has a beautiful delicate touch and a deeply lyrical musicality.
The Art of Improvisation is a solo concert with a difference. Warren fuses improvisations based on Dowland, Bach and Chopin and folk music with music from Brazil and South Africa, original compositions, and the Great American Songbook.
What makes The Art of Improvisation particularly unique is the ease with which Warren draws the audience into his various musical worlds with an informative but informal, entertaining presentation.
Tickets £10, £8, £3
